Samagra Pension Portal

The Samagra pension portal is a consolidated online platform for various social security and welfare schemes run by the Madhya Pradesh government for the socially and economically marginalised people. The website allows people to check their eligibility status, submit documents and apply for the schemes besides information on various programmes.

The portal, developed in 2010, allows people access to information regarding all the schemes in one place, which reduces time and the hassle of going from one office to another for details. For instance, they can find information on government pension schemes for destitute older people, widows, differently-abled, and those living below the poverty line (BPL) category. The beneficiaries must be 60 and above, whether male or female. In the case of the differently-abled category, the age criterion starts at six years for the disability pensions.

Here are some salient features of the old agepension scheme for destitute people.

Eligibility

The applicant must be 60 and above for availing of the old age pension scheme for destitute people. In the case of a female widow, she must be 18 years old. Similarly, the disability pension scheme starts at age 6 and the percentage of disability must be 40 or more. Additionally, they must not fall in the tax-paying category, and are not employed in the government. Senior citizens aged 60 and above and living in the old age homes can also apply for pensions.

Benefits

The Samagra social security pension scheme provides a monthly pension of Rs 600 to destitute older people, widows, and differently-abled people in Madhya Pradesh under schemes such as widow pension yojana, old age pension, disabled pension scheme, etc.

Application Process

The application process involves submission of documents such as the Aadhar card, income proof certificate, BPL ration card, bank account information, address proof, disability certificate, member ID, age certificate, passport size photo, and a mobile number.

To apply physically, they must visit the gram panchayat or the Janpad panchayat office or the office of the Municipal Corporation, and nagar palika or parishads, and fill out a form and submit the necessary documents. They can also download the application form online.

Online Application Process

Visit the Samagra pension portal and click on the “Social Security Pension and Financial Assistance Schemes” section on the homepage. Then, select the “Online application for pension schemes” link. Click on “apply online for pension ”for the selected scheme and fill out the application form with the required information, the Samagra member ID from the local body, and upload the necessary documents. Once completed, click submit. Then, the department will verify the details, such as eligibility, etc., before notifying the selected beneficiaries.
