The Haryana government’s ‘Old Age Samman Allowance Scheme’ offers Rs 3,000 as a pension to senior citizens from the economically weaker section of society. The scheme started in 1966 to support 2,400 beneficiaries with a monthly pension of Rs 15. After 1991, the state reduced the age limit for pensions from 65 to 60 to cover more people.
Likewise, the pension amount has also been revised several times, from Rs 100 per month in 1991 to Rs 1,000 per month on January 1, 2014. On April 1, 2023, it was revised to Rs 2,750, and on January 1, 2024, it was further increased to Rs 3,000 per month.
