A total of 22.91 lakh life certificates (Jeevan Praman Patra) have been submitted so far in November 2024. While November is the designated month for pensioner senior citizens to submit life certificates, super senior pensioners (80 years and above) can start submitting it one month earlier from October 1, every year.
Although one can submit physical certificates at their banks or Jeevan Pramaan Centres across the country, doing it digitally is a convenient alternative. Online submission of life certificates has become easy with biometric verification (face authentication) and it takes only a few minutes to complete the process.

The government is also focusing on digital submission of life certificates and running a month-long campaign from November 1, 2024, across 800 cities and districts to spread awareness about Digital Life Certificates (DLC) and face authentication technology.

A pensioner submits a life certificate through the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ app, which verifies the pensioner’s details with Aadhaar-linked biometric information. Once the submitted information is verified, a DLC is generated and stored safely in the life certificate repository of the government. As the data is updated, pension disbursing agencies access it and disburse pensions to the pensioner.
Ten years back, on November 10, 2014, the government launched the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ app, which uses Aadhaar-based biometrics for verification to issue a DLC. Physical submission is still available if one wants to submit it in person. It can be done by visiting banks, pension disbursing offices, post office, or availing door-step banking if pensioner’s bank offers it.
However, if they want, DLC is just a tap away and can be submitted from the comfort of home saving them logistical hurdles.

Download The App: To submit the certificate online, one needs to first download the ‘Jeevan Pramaan Face App’ and ‘AadhaarFaceRd’ app from the Google Play Store or APP Store.
Operator Authentication: To proceed, the operator needs to provide his/her details (mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar number). Note that the mobile number is required to receive OTP and does not necessarily need to be linked with Aadhaar. (The operator is the person who operates the app, so it can either be the pensioner or anyone else.)
Once the OTP is received and validated, a pop-up will appear on the screen to give consent for authentication. It is a one-time process and need not be repeated. After authentication, the operator needs to write their name, tick the check box and click ‘Scan’.
Scan The Face: A new pop-up will open asking for a face scan of the live photograph of the pensioner. Click ‘yes’ and continue the scanning process and follow the instructions for face scanning of the pensioner. When the face scan is authenticated successfully, the message ‘Client Registration Successful’ will show on the screen.
Pensioner Authentication: A new screen will open for pensioner authentication. The pensioner needs to write his/her Aadhaar and mobile number and submit and verify the submission with the OTP received on mobile. On the next screen, pensioner details such as pension type, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency, etc., will appear. Check all the details, make changes if needed, tick the check box, and submit. The process is complete.
The life certificate bearing the Pramaan ID and PPO number is generated. It will show on the screen. The pensioner will also receive an SMS with these details and a confirmation for successful submission.
