The Uttar Pradesh government provides a monthly pension of Rs 500 to widowed women aged 18-60 living below the poverty line. The Women and Welfare Department runs the scheme.

The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to widowed women. The amount is directly credited to their bank accounts every month. The scheme’s overall objective is to improve their standard of living, help them become self-reliant, and empower them financially.
The UP widow pension scheme is open to all widowed women aged 18-60 in Uttar Pradesh. They must also have a BPL card and all other necessary documents for the application process. The pension is given only to those who have not availed of any other government pension benefits. The widowed woman will become ineligible for the monthly pension if she remarries.
