The Uttar Pradesh government provides three types of pensions to people living below the poverty line (BPL) as a social security and financial assistance program for the economically weaker section. The government’s social welfare department, which implements the schemes, publishes the beneficiary list with details of the schemes, eligibility, and payments annually. Old-Age Pension: The old-age pension is for people aged 60 and above. The beneficiary’s annual income should be around Rs 46,000 in rural and about Rs 56,000 in urban areas. The monthly pension is Rs 1,000, provided the individual is not receiving a pension from another scheme.
Widow Pension: The minimum age to avail of this pension is 18, and the pension amount is Rs 1,000. The annual income should not be more than Rs 2 lakh, according to the official website. The pension can continue until the beneficiary joins another welfare scheme.
Disability And Leprosy Pension: A person aged 18 and above can apply for disability pension. For the leprosy pension, the minimum age is one year, and the maximum is 150. The maximum income should not exceed Rs 46,080 in rural areas and Rs 56,460 in urban areas to be eligible for the pension. The pension amount is Rs 1,000 for disability and Rs 3,000 for leprosy per month.
To check your name on the list, go to the official website. Select the relevant pension option on the top (old age pension, destitute women pension, or disability and leprosy pension).
