The State Bank of India (SBI) processes pensions for various departments of the central government, such as Indian Railways, Post and Telecom Department, the Ministry of Defence, and other state governments and civil and autonomous bodies.  To address pensioners’ requirements and provide faster grievance resolutions, it had launched a dedicated website ‘SBI Pension Seva’ on August 31, 2018.

The dedicated website is a step towards providing pensioners with better services as well as to mitigate complaints by providing a system with a broader reach across the country. The portal allows senior citizens and other eligible pensioners to access pension-related queries from the bank from the comfort of their homes.

Pension Transaction Details: Users can download transaction details on the website. It enables them to check for any differences in the pension amount and easily track it without needing to visit the bank.

Download Arrear Calculation Sheet: Pensioners can use the arrear calculation sheet provided on the portal to determine the exact amount of any arrears due on account of changes in dearness allowance (DA) or any other change in pension status.

Investment-Related Details: Pensioners can also check their investment-related details on the platform.

Life Certificate Status: Submitting life certificates every year was a hassle for senior citizens until a few years ago. Now, they can submit it from any of the branches or even submit it online through the digital life certificate option on the ‘Jeevan Pramaan App’.

SBI’s pension portal also offers digital life certificates as well as a video life certificate (VLC) facility for submitting life certificates through video calls, thus providing senior citizens with a convenient option.

Pension Profile Details: Pensioners can access their pension profile details on the platform after logging in. Although pensioners can access the services by visiting their bank branch, online access to these details makes it much easier, especially for senior citizens having mobility issues.

In short, the SBI Pension Seva website provides easy access to pension-related information, facilitates the submission of life certificates, offers 24-hour access, and allows pensioners to raise complaints directly on the portal in case of any issue.

This portal’s most significant benefit is the convenience it offers to pensioners. In case of any issues, they can either call the bank’s customer care on any of the numbers or write an email to the customer care id.

Grievance Redressal: Among the services offered to pensioners, grievance redressal is one of the most crucial. It aims to reduce the number of complaints received on the Centralised Pensioners Grievance Redress And Monitoring System (CPENGRAMS). The primary category of banking complaints on the CPENGRAMS, an online system for speedy grievance redressal, relates to pensions, covering issues, such as a delayed pension, incorrect amount, and life certificate nomination problems.

In case of no reply or unsatisfactory reply from the SBI Pension Seva portal, pensioners can approach the branch manager responsible for pension disbursement, and then escalate the matter to the head office of that bank. They can also reach out to the pension-paying authority in case of further delay. For banking service-related issues, they can approach and seek assistance from the banking ombudsman for resolution under the guidelines provided by the Reserve Bank of India.
