Hollywood animation movie “Up” won the Academy Award in 2010 for Best Picture, Sound Editing, and Original Screenplay. It was the second animation film after “Beauty and the Beast” to receive a Best Picture nomination. The film’s plot breaks some of society’s common stereotypes concerning people’s attitudes to life, that there is an age factor to learn and try new things and limitations to what they can achieve after a certain age.

For instance, when the film’s main protagonist, Carl, decided to go on an adventure to see his late wife’s dream destination, “Paradise Falls,” on his “floating” house hanging on thousands of gas balloons, people thought it was a crazy idea and doubted his mental state.

Meanwhile, a young lad named Russel was also determined to join the widower in the adventure as he didn’t want to miss the opportunity which could put him on the merit list of his school’s Boy Scout project under “Wilderness Exploring”, one of the themes of activities.

Carl’s adventure initially looked impossible for many people, but as his floating house took to the sky, they were speechless and baffled, wondering how something like that could be real. Carl’s heartfelt story comes alive on the screen as he leaves no stone unturned to fulfil his late wife’s wishes for him to visit Paradise Falls, which she could not see herself during her lifetime.

The movie presents some of life’s greatest lessons intelligently weaved into the story by its makers. Carl’s adventure had many challenges, from his relationship with Russel to their disagreements and collaborations. The movie shows why living with a positive spirit is important, regardless of age and circumstances. Russell’s act also offers valuable lessons.

Here are some takeaways from the movie.

Always Have An Insurance Cover

Carl’s adventure to “Paradise Falls” was daring, yet for the old man and his young travel partner, it was the most thrilling experience in their lives, having undertaken a trip aboard a floating house tied to thousands of gas balloons. Unfortunately, Carl could not reach his destination despite his determination. Eventually, he ends up losing the house as well. This setback shows the importance of securing one’s house. It could be a home insurance. The story’s moral is to protect your valuable possessions, be it a house, car, or health. If it is a house property, home insurance can be a good option to secure it for your old age or children.

Keep Your Loved Ones Close

Although Carl loses his home, he gets a lifelong friend in Russel. Carl’s relationship with Russel shows the importance of love, bond, and partnership. It also teaches you that you may get your wealth back, but you will have love and respect if you care for others. Carl lived an ordinary life before his adventure to Paradise Falls, but even on the trip, he sometimes felt on his own because, at one point, Russell got mad at him and left him alone. He realised how important people are in his life. So keep your friends and relatives close who genuinely care about you.

It’s Never Too Late To Start Life All Over Again

Carl had given up on his life after his wife’s death, but he soon found a purpose in life in fulfilling his wife’s wishes and live in her memory by undertaking the adventure. Russell, although young and naïve, missed no time in asking Carl’s permission to join him on the journey, which led them to some of their life’s greatest moments and achievements together. They both thought of achieving something—reaching Paradise Falls. Their spectacular adventure also shows that it’s never too late for you to start something new and constructive in life.
