PM Modi To Launch ‘Subhadra’ Yojana On Sep 17: Know The Details

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Odisha government’s women-centric scheme, the ‘Subhadra’ Yojana, during his one-day visit to the state on September 17, 2024. The scheme is expected to benefit around one crore women in Odisha between 21 and 60 years of age. The eligible women will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, starting in 2024.

This flagship scheme aims to empower women financially and promote their safety and well-being.

As per PTI, the eligible beneficiaries will receive the funds directly in their bank accounts, which should be Aadhaar enabled. The Rs 10,000 benefit would be transferred annually to accounts in two equal instalments. Modi will initiate the fund transfer in bank accounts of more than 10 lakh women on Monday, September 17, 2024.

Pravati Parida, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, said applicants who have applied for the scheme by September 15 will get their first instalment transferred to them during the scheme launch. According to her, around 50 lakh women had already applied for the scheme so far who would receive the payment.

Key Features Of Subhadra Yojana:

  • The scheme is to provide financial support to women, to improve their awareness of their rights and financial independence, and to encourage digital literacy and personal and professional growth.

  • Applicants must be between 21 and 60 years of age to be eligible for the scheme.

  • Eligible applicants would be given Rs 50,000 over five years (Rs 10,000 annually)

  • The money will be given in two equal instalments: Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day every year.

  • The scheme will be operational in all 30 districts in the state.

  • Beneficiaries would be given Subhadra Card, an ATM-cum-debit card, to facilitate financial transactions.

  • One can apply to the scheme through the forms available at Aanganwadi centres, blocks, Mo Seba Kendra, and common service centres. Online applications can also be made through Subhadra Portal.
