The Haryana Cabinet has approved pensions for more than one journalist in a family and Kharif crop Farmer Bonuses—a long-standing demand that has now received the green light. As per the amendment, if both husband and wife are journalists, they will both be eligible for pensions. Earlier, only one journalist in a family was provided pensions. Additionally, pensions won’t be denied to journalists merely because of pending criminal cases against them.

Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that due to insufficient rainfall in May, June, and July this year, farmers’ expenses have increased. Hence, the cabinet has decided to give bonuses of Rs 2,000 per acre on the current Kharif crops. Before the cabinet decisions, Saini met with farmers’ organisations to understand their demands regarding the minimum support price (MSP). He also vowed to end “Abiana,” a type of tax levied on farmers to provide irrigation water.

The chief minister said an appeal has been made to farmers to register their crops on the government portal by August 15. A farmer with an acre or less than an acre of land will receive Rs 2,000. “I am the son of a poor farmer, and I understand the farmers’ pain,” Saini stated in a press conference last week to announce the cabinet decisions.
The government will introduce legislation to provide financial security to temporary employees. Saini said 1.20 lakh individuals are hired through outsourcing, and Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam Limited (HKRN) will benefit from this. They will get the base wage of the pay scale.
He said, “Under this decision, casual workers will also receive annual salary increases.” Employees earning more than Rs 50,000 monthly salary and those supported by central government initiatives would not be considered under this policy.

Similarly, employees who have worked for eight years will receive a 10 per cent increase in their minimum pay scale, and those who have worked for more extended periods will receive a 15 per cent hike in their pay scale.
